A native of California, Maria Moscato was raised in San Diego and studied at the University of California, San Diego, graduating with
a B.A. in Studio Visual Arts in 1987. After working as both a store display and theater scenic artist she attended graduate school at
San Francisco State University where she graduated with an M.A. in Industrial Arts. Her M.A.focused on sustainable design
developing a thesis on the traditional village model as inspiration for green urban development and finishing exams at the
Architecture department, University of Naples, Italy.
She has worked in sculpture, painting and furniture design but today creates two-dimensional works in print and watercolor
(see Watercolors and Prints)
For 2 years she was Fine Arts instructor and department chair at the Academy of Our Lady of Peace high school in San Diego.
She currently lives in Bologna, Italy and with the Safari T Shirt headquarters in San Diego, California.
She also holds art workshops for young people at Bologna's International School.
